“American Dream Deferred\u201d explores themes of dreams and aspirations, struggle and heartbreak, protest, progress, and hope. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the American Dream? Why does it remain out of reach for so many? What can we do about it? The answers to these questions and more lie in songs from shows like \u201cRagtime,\u201d \u201cIn the Heights,\u201d \u201cMiss Saigon,\u201d \u201cAllegiance,\u201d \u201cHairspray,\u201d and “Suffs.\u201d They bring forth uniquely American stories with uniquely American messages of joy, frustration, and, ultimately, hope for a future where we are all able to fulfill our dreams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
